Identification key to the Cyrtopogon-species
In Germany, the most common of the three known species is Cyrtopogon lateralis, which is even distributed in the northern lowlands. The other species are restricted to boreo-montane areas in the Holarctic Region and, like most species of Lasiopogon, represent an ecologically distinct group within Asilidae.
Cyrtopogon lapponicus (Zetterstedt, [1838]) from Scandinavia is lacking in this key.
